HKDAP Is Heading to Solana, but Retail Can't Touch It Until 2026
Anchorpoint announced on October 30 that its Hong Kong dollar stablecoin HKDAP is coming to Solana with native minting and redemption. The catch? It's still Beta Access, non-retail only, and running on Ethereum. Here's what actually matters and what's just a press release.
Anchorpoint is putting the Hong Kong dollar on Solana. The issuer announced the collaboration on October 30, and the plan includes native minting and redemption of HKDAP on the network. Payments and tokenized-asset settlement are the intended use cases.
Now the fine print, because there's a lot of it. HKDAP is still in Beta Access, which means non-retail users only, through selected authorized distributors. During beta it runs on Ethereum. Anchorpoint is targeting Full Launch as early as the end of 2026, and that date depends on issuance, distribution and infrastructure all being ready at once. So no, you can't just buy this thing on Solana tomorrow. No but seriously. Read that again.
Native issuance is a bigger deal than it sounds. A bridged token puts a wrapper between you and the actual asset, and someone has to answer for redemption when the wrapper breaks. Native means the issuer's own arrangements sit on the chain you're using. For a treasury desk, that's the difference between clean reconciliation and a very bad Tuesday.
But here's the part everyone will skip past. A network listing isn't a payment corridor. Solana confirms transactions in under a second, and that speed solves roughly nothing if no merchant wants Hong Kong dollars and there's no dependable path back into a bank account. Liquidity is the bottleneck, not throughput. Conversion capacity gets thin at certain hours, and a payment you can't complete isn't a payment. It's a pending line on a dashboard.
The collaboration is smart positioning, though. Hong Kong has been building out a regulated stablecoin regime, and getting a compliant HKD token in front of Solana's developer base is a genuine distribution bet. It's the kind of move that looks boring now and obvious in hindsight.
Still, the scoreboard is a named service where a real user gets HKDAP, spends it, and exits back into bank money. Until that exists, this is a route, not a market.
Watch for the first named distributor on Solana, not the wallet integration count. That's the number that'll actually matter.
