Proto-Danksharding

An Ethereum upgrade (EIP-4844) that introduced blob transactions as a stepping stone toward full danksharding.

Definition

An Ethereum upgrade (EIP-4844) that introduced blob transactions as a stepping stone toward full danksharding. It creates a new fee market for data that L2s can use cheaply without competing with regular transactions. When it went live in March 2024, it slashed Layer 2 costs dramatically.
