Definition

The Ethereum Improvement Proposal that introduced blob transactions (proto-danksharding) in the Dencun upgrade of March 2024. It created a new type of transaction that carries large data blobs at much lower cost than regular calldata. This slashed Layer 2 fees by 90% or more.
