Proof of Stake (PoS)

A consensus mechanism where validators stake tokens as collateral to secure the network.

Definition

A consensus mechanism where validators stake tokens as collateral to secure the network. Unlike mining, PoS doesn't require massive energy consumption. Ethereum switched from proof-of-work to proof-of-stake in September 2022.
