Placing a transaction ahead of someone else's known pending trade to profit from the price impact.

Definition

Placing a transaction ahead of someone else's known pending trade to profit from the price impact. On blockchains, bots watch the mempool for large trades and pay higher gas to get their transaction processed first. It's a form of MEV extraction that costs regular users money on every swap.
