Mempool

The waiting room for unconfirmed transactions before they're included in a block.

Definition

The waiting room for unconfirmed transactions before they're included in a block. Miners and validators pick transactions from the mempool, usually prioritizing higher fees. During congestion, the mempool swells and fees spike.
