Dusting Attack

Sending tiny amounts of crypto (dust) to many wallet addresses to track and de-anonymize them.

Definition

Sending tiny amounts of crypto (dust) to many wallet addresses to track and de-anonymize them. Attackers analyze how the dust moves when combined with other funds to link multiple addresses to the same person. It's most effective on UTXO chains like Bitcoin where inputs get combined in transactions.
