XRPL Hit 5 Billion Transactions. 767 Bots Did 92% of August's Work.
The XRP Ledger crossed 5.06 billion validated transactions, but Bitquery's August breakdown shows 793 accounts generated 93.2% of the month's activity, with 767 of them classified as machines. One address alone fired off 12.79 million DEX orders and settled just 882 trades.
The XRP Ledger crossed 5.06 billion validated transactions, which is a real number and a real milestone. What sits inside it's less flattering. In August, 793 sender accounts generated 75.98 million of the ledger's 81.56 million transactions, or 93.2% of the month's activity, according to Bitquery. Of those accounts, 767 were classified as machines. Another 26 exchange hot wallets contributed 1.1%.
One address did almost 13 million transactions by itself, including 12.79 million DEX orders. Only 882 of those orders resulted in trades. That single account produced roughly a sixth of everything XRPL processed in August. Across the entire ledger, just 2.97 million trades settled, from 12,153 accounts. Nearly half of active accounts sent one transaction. Four-fifths sent five or fewer.
So the network is busy, and the busy part is automated. DEX order bots alone accounted for 39.25 million transactions, 48.1% of August traffic, with dust-spraying accounts adding another 18.79 million. Evernorth's second-quarter data tells a similar story from the other direction. Order-book volume averaged 3.57 million XRP a day, up 79% year over year, while the number of accounts initiating those trades fell to 1,111 a day from 1,864. Average volume per trading account climbed from 1,072 XRP to 3,217.
Capital is growing, though. Average value held on XRPL reached $4.26 billion in the quarter, the highest level in Evernorth's six-quarter series. RLUSD balances averaged $539 million, up 642% from a year earlier. Daily transacting accounts still dropped about 25% year over year, to 16,587, and new accounts fell to 2,783.
Here's where I land. Transaction counts are a vanity metric, and health data people worked that out years ago. A clinical trial can log a million data points and still fail an audit if none of them are verifiable endpoints. Blockchain networks are walking toward the same reckoning. The FDA doesn't care about your chain. It cares about your audit trail. XRPL's audit trail shows 767 operators doing most of the work, and roughly 2.4% of submitted DEX orders actually settling.
Watch settled trades, recurring accounts, and how much value routes through XRP itself. The rest is noise.
