Satsuma Dumped All 669 BTC. Here's Who Actually Gets the Cash
Satsuma Technology sold its entire 669.4867 BTC treasury and the UK High Court approved a capital reduction that pays out £30,718,881. The payout goes to B shareholders at £0.002734 per share, with settlement expected by Sept. 28. Here's the part the timeline misses.
Another Bitcoin treasury just walked out the door. Satsuma Technology, the UK-listed firm trading as SATS on the LSE, sold its entire Bitcoin stack. All 669.4867 BTC. Then the High Court of Justice approved the cancellation of 11,235,874,700 B shares, which authorizes the share-capital reduction sitting behind a £30,718,881 return to shareholders.
Who actually gets paid? Holders of those B shares. The return is fixed at £0.002734 per B share, and the company expects settlement by Sept. 28.
Here's the thing. The B shares weren't an investment. They were plumbing. A legal mechanism for moving cash out of a corporate treasury and into investor pockets. If you held A shares and never received B shares, you're watching this from the cheap seats.
The number that should bother you is £30.7 million. A 669 BTC stack is worth well north of £50 million at current prices. Filings don't spell out the full gap, and I'm not going to pretend I know every line item. But fees, liabilities, and retained operating capital don't usually eat half a Bitcoin treasury. That delta is the story nobody's tweeting about.
And that's the tell. The chain doesn't lie. It shows you exactly when a treasury strategy stops being a conviction play and turns into an exit. Satsuma bought Bitcoin, held it, sold it, and handed the proceeds back through a court-approved structure. That's not a treasury strategy. That's a wind-down with extra steps.
So here's my question. How many other small-cap Bitcoin treasury companies are one closed financing window away from doing the exact same thing?
MicroStrategy can hold forever. It has capital markets access and a stock that trades at a premium to its stack. Everybody else? They're one bad quarter from selling into the same bid they helped create. This is bigger than people realize.
Watch the treasury-company filings over the next four weeks. If a few more come out with "reduction of capital" language attached to a Bitcoin sale, the small end of this trade is over. And we'll finally know who was holding for the thesis and who was holding for the photo op.
