Meta AI Says XRP Could Hit $40 by 2027. The Math Says Otherwise.
Meta AI floated a $25 to $40 XRP price target by January 1, 2027, with $50 and above if a full bull market returns. The market cap math behind that call is brutal, and a chatbot's price target isn't a thesis.
A chatbot built by Meta just handed XRP holders a number that would turn $1,000 into $28,000. The catch: it's a chatbot.
The Call
Meta AI, the assistant Mark Zuckerberg's company ships inside WhatsApp, Messenger, and Instagram, floated a price target for XRP of $25 to $40 by January 1, 2027. Push the timeline further and let a full bull market take hold, and the bot says $50 and above is on the table. As of October 11, 2026, XRP is trading between $1.39 and $1.41.
Do the math. That's an 18x to 28x move in roughly 15 months. For context, XRP's all-time high was $3.84 back in January 2018, when the entire crypto market was a fraction of its current size. So the bot isn't predicting a recovery. It's predicting a rewrite.
And what's the catalyst? Meta AI points to a landmark event, the kind that only shows up once a cycle. Read between the lines and that's almost certainly a spot XRP ETF going live in the US, paired with market structure legislation that finally tells institutions what the rules are.
The Math Problem
Here's where I get off the bus. XRP has roughly 60 billion tokens in circulation. At $40, that's a $2.4 trillion market cap. Ethereum peaked near $570 billion. Bitcoin peaked around $1.3 trillion, and that's the asset that convinced BlackRock to file for an ETF.
So Meta AI isn't just saying XRP will beat its old high. It's saying XRP will be worth more than every major crypto asset in history combined, at their peaks, with room to spare.
Admittedly, market cap comparisons get slippery in crypto. Supply isn't the whole story. But the question worth asking isn't whether $40 is possible on some absurd liquidity event. It's whether a language model has any business being quoted as a forecaster.
It doesn't, really. Meta AI isn't running a discounted cash flow model on Ripple's payment corridors. It's pattern-matching on the bullish takes it ingested during training. Ask any AI for a price target and it'll give you one, because agreeing with the premise is what these systems do.
I'm not entirely convinced the $25 to $40 band is anything more than flattery with a decimal point.
What Actually Matters
The skeptics have a track record worth respecting here. XRP has been about to moon since 2018, and the people who said so lost a lot of money waiting. That doesn't mean the proponents are wrong this time. It means the burden of proof sits with the bull thesis, not with the doubt.
The real signal to watch isn't what Meta AI says. It's the spot XRP ETF filings working through the SEC, and whether Ripple's institutional payment volume shows up in actual settlement data. Those are numbers you can check. A chatbot's price target is a narrative, not a thesis.
Here's my read. A $40 XRP needs roughly $2.3 trillion of new money to walk through the door. If that happens, it won't be because an AI said so. It'll be because the ETF got approved and the buyers showed up.
