TVL (Total Value Locked)

The total value of assets deposited in a DeFi protocol.

Definition

The total value of assets deposited in a DeFi protocol. TVL is the main metric for measuring DeFi adoption. During DeFi Summer 2020, TVL exploded from $1 billion to over $200 billion at its peak.
