Synthetic Asset

A tokenized derivative that mimics the price of a real-world asset without requiring you to own it.

Definition

A tokenized derivative that mimics the price of a real-world asset without requiring you to own it. You can trade synthetic stocks, gold, or currencies on-chain through protocols like Synthetix. They use collateral and oracles to maintain their pegs and give anyone in the world access to any asset class.
