Sidechain

A separate blockchain connected to a main chain through a two-way bridge.

Definition

A separate blockchain connected to a main chain through a two-way bridge. Sidechains have their own consensus and security but inherit some trust from the main chain. Polygon started as an Ethereum sidechain before becoming more complex.
