Reentrancy Attack

A smart contract vulnerability where an attacker calls back into the vulnerable contract before the first function call finishes, draining funds repeatedly.

Definition

A smart contract vulnerability where an attacker calls back into the vulnerable contract before the first function call finishes, draining funds repeatedly. The DAO hack in 2016 used a reentrancy attack to steal $60 million in ETH from Ethereum. It's one of the most famous and studied exploits in crypto history.
