IPFS (InterPlanetary File System)

A decentralized file storage protocol that addresses content by what it is rather than where it is.

Definition

A decentralized file storage protocol that addresses content by what it is rather than where it is. Instead of a URL pointing to a server, files get a unique hash based on their contents. NFT metadata, dApp frontends, and documents are often stored on IPFS so they can't be taken down by a single server going offline.
