Finality

The guarantee that a blockchain transaction can't be reversed or altered once confirmed.

Definition

The guarantee that a blockchain transaction can't be reversed or altered once confirmed. Bitcoin has probabilistic finality that gets stronger with each confirmation. Some chains like Solana and Avalanche offer faster finality, sometimes in under a second.
