CEX (Centralized Exchange)

A cryptocurrency exchange run by a company that holds your funds and matches orders.

Definition

A cryptocurrency exchange run by a company that holds your funds and matches orders. Coinbase, Binance, and Kraken are CEXs. They're easier to use than DEXs but require trusting the company with your money, as FTX customers learned the hard way.
