Capitulation

When investors give up and sell at any price after a prolonged downturn.

Definition

When investors give up and sell at any price after a prolonged downturn. It's often marked by extreme fear and massive volume as everyone rushes for the exit. Ironically, capitulation often signals the market bottom.
