Calldata

The data sent along with an Ethereum transaction that tells a smart contract what function to call and with what parameters.

Definition

The data sent along with an Ethereum transaction that tells a smart contract what function to call and with what parameters. Calldata is stored on-chain permanently but can't be modified. Layer 2 rollups post compressed transaction data as calldata on Ethereum for data availability.
