Fender's New Elie Speakers: A Retro Look with Modern Sound Clarity
Fender Audio, in collaboration with Riffsound, launches its Elie 6 and Elie 12 Bluetooth speakers. Priced at $300 and $400, these retro-styled speaker/amplifier hybrids boast impressive sound clarity but face challenges in portability and battery life.
Fender Audio, a fresh player in the audio market, has teamed up with Riffsound to roll out two intriguing Bluetooth speakers, the Elie 6 and Elie 12. With price tags of $300 and $400 respectively, these speakers aim to combine classic aesthetics with modern functionality. They're not your typical Bluetooth speakers, boasting a sophisticated, almost retro design that sets them apart from the usual flashy or overly colorful portable speakers.
Beyond their looks, these devices pack quite the punch functionality. They double as amplifiers, equipped with ¼-inch/XLR combo inputs and offer dual wireless inputs, perfect for karaoke or trivia nights. The Elie 12, the larger of the duo, houses twice the components compared to the Elie 6, delivering 120 watts of power. The sound clarity is a significant selling point here, with both models handling various music genres with precision and ease. The larger Elie 12, however, provides a more immersive listening experience due to its enhanced bass and volume capabilities.
Despite their strengths, these speakers aren't without shortcomings. The absence of a companion app limits customization, which is a letdown for users wanting control over their audio experience. Moreover, while the Elies are portable, their weight and battery life pale in comparison to competitors like JBL's models, which last much longer and weigh significantly less. The Elie 6 offers 15 hours of battery life, and the Elie 12 extends to 18 hours, falling behind some market leaders.
So, will these speakers make waves in an already crowded market? Time will tell. While their design and sound quality are commendable, the lack of a supporting app and relatively short battery life could be stumbling blocks. But if you're looking for a unique blend of style and sound, Fender Audio's Elie series makes a memorable first impression.
